Summary: Those who think that Jay Chou can't act will want to rethink that again. Given Initial D was pop, and that Curse was action, Secret was a perfect dramatic platform for him to do a little more emoting, even though he can't seem to shake off his signature drawl. And of course some help to make him look good came from thespian Anthony Wong, who had also played his cinematic dad (of similar interest / capability) in Initial D, as he again does in Secret. Here, their father and son characters play off each other a little more in some endearing, comical moments, and naturally, Wong seemed a more believable father figure than Chow Yun-Fat for Jay Chou.

Summary: Yes, its nice. But its not because i'm a Jay fan i think is nice. I give this a 4.2stars rating, if i'm just another audience, i would give it a 4.5stars rating.
Think of Taiwanese films. How much better are theirs from our local films? Maybe a bigger market but can you name 3 taiwanese films that you can remember? remember, this movie is still ultimately a taiwanese movie. it aint comparable to the Hong Kong's blockbusters but as a 小品, or even as a Chinese/Asian film, i think the genre had been rather refreshing and well handled.
Firstly, the brand "Jay Chou".
Yes, the media is raving about how That name alone is able to guarantee box office. That, is not totally true.
Do you really think all Jay fans are blind supporters and all will patronise his movies? Some are so, rest are not. The rest are the ones attracted to Jay Chou the Singer. Jay Chou the Actor, Jay Chou the Director? it still boils down to their pre-movie opinion, if the movie itself is worth the ticket price.
And the non Jay fans. Yah, there's the neutral pool and the bias group. The bias ones ignore the plot, the story and the whole movie. i think you guys get the point.
Verdict:4/5

Summary: The start of the show is very simple and normal. However with some of the unexpected twist scenes make the movie interesting. Overall, it's a romantic plot movie with a twist where no one would expect/ predict it to be!!! Hee!!!
Verdict: 4/5

Summary: Jay Chou's directorial debut is named Secret - which is a dead giveaway right there. Based on that title, you should know that there's some lingering piece of information in the film that turns this seemingly earnest youth romance into an overwrought sob-fest. Secret needs its secret. Without it, the film would probably be irretrievably boring, plus no secret means no hook. If there isn't an acute conflict placing this idealized romance in jeopardy, then nobody is getting their money's worth; the audience may as well be flipping through a photo book of dope Jay Chou pictures. The downside: Secret can easily be spoiled by any in depth discussion. As such, I'll try to make sense in this review without giving away too much. That's harder than it sounds.
Verdict: N/A

Summary: I personally liked Secret for its plot's tightness. Everything but one question is answered. The story might be a mixture of different genres but it works here. It felt draggy during the middle parts but a brilliant (and equally draggy) resolution saves the show. The downside (apart from the ending, but thats personal) is the script. It felt too simple and lacking punch, but i think the film redeems itself for the good story and camerawork.
Verdict:N/A

Summary: It's not a secret anymore: Jay Chou can do more than just compose music and sing, he can direct too. However, the jury may still be out on his acting.
Chairman Chou does quadruple duty for Secret; besides directing and starring in the film, the do-it-all entertainer penned the original story and the film's evocative score. Chou stars as Jay, a young, talented musician whose cool demeanor is both aloof and charming. Even though he's a bit of a cold fish and even an odd duck, people still regard him with awe thanks to his amazing musical skills and charming, boyish demeanor. It's almost like he's playing...the real Jay Chou! That said, Jay Chou plays himself rather well, though as a romantic lead, he's still a rather tough sell.

Summary: It's in the music that you will find the soul of this movie. It's the music that crafts the emotions of the story - happiness, sadness, yearning, distress and even humor. It's the music that ultimately becomes the salvation of this movie. When the story line falters and when the the depth of the actors were lacking, the music comes through strong and fluid, sweeping you away and allowing you to forgive the shortcomings of Taiwanese pop sensation Jay Chou's directorial debut.
Chou stars as Lun and the movie tells his story, a piano-playing extraordinaire who recently transferred to Tamkang Secondary School. There, he befriends a mysterious girl named Yu (Kwai Lun-Mei) who shares his love and passion for music. True to the title of the movie, Yu keeps a 'secret' from Lun. As their friendship develops, Lun soon finds out that the secret was something he'd have never guessed.

Summary: Jay Chou isn't bad in this film, in fact, I have to say that I've never seen him speak that much in a film. Nice to see him playing someone who resembles a human being, although said human being is an affable musical genius who is cocky in an adorable Great Swifty-manner, while at the same time shy and bashful in front of the girls, and absolutely sincere and romantic when he's in love.
